I probably won't buy as many gifts, and I probably won't recieve that many either but something about this Christmas season feels a little more special. In times when I don't really know what I can count on, I know that I can count on my family, my friends, and my relationship with God. I will be thinking about that more than ever this year. I'm thankful for my friendships which have remained constant for so many years. I am thankful for my family who will be there for me no matter what. I am thankful for my wife who I love more everyday. And I am thankful that God sent His son to earth, died on cross for me and rose from the grave and is with me everyday. That is what gives me hope for this season. Merry Christmas!!

Finally the Republicans have a Superstar!!

This woman is reason enough for me to pull the lever for John McCain. Anyways, Cable News is starting to make me want to punch myself in the face. He was born 69 years ago today. Gosh, where to start? Most of you who read this probably never got a chance to meet him so to give you some kind of a picture of who he was, take Bobby Knight, the dad from the Wonder Years, and mix in a little Arnold Palmer and that might help give you an idea of what kind of guy he was. There are also pieces of him in me and my brothers. Darren has his leadership and take charge attitude. Kyle has his smarts and athletic prowess. I have his love of laughter and family. He was a great guy and I miss him a lot. It is kind of poetic that today is Masters Sunday because one of the great passions of his life was golf. I think about him every time I play and I am eternally grateful that he passed that passion on to Kyle and me. On the afternoon that he died he looked at a mug that he had and it had a picture of one of the holes at Pebble Beach and he said, "I'm gonna buy a motor home and play that golf course someday." I hope to be able to play there when I turn 30 to fulfill something he always wanted to do, to play Pebble Beach. I know he will be looking down on me reminding me to keep my head down and elbow in. He will probably also have a belly laugh or two every time I hit a Titliest's in the Pacific Ocean, which I'm sure will be many. One last funny story I remembered a little while ago. My dad and I were at a father son banquet at church. We were seated at the same table as a young Eddie Pohlreich and his very young son Justin. Justin was kind of acting up and Pastor Ed leaned over to my Dad and asked him for any fatherly wisdom. My Dad rolled up his sleeve and extended his arm out on to the table said with a stern but calm voice, "A firm hand", followed by a smile. To those of you who knew him can totally hear him saying that. We love you Dad and miss you very much. Happy 69th birthday!

Some thought about the economic and moral crisis in America

The housing market is in a crisis, public education is a destroying our children, and we might be in for a recession. It's my belief that a major contributing factor to these problems and many more was the introduction of women in the workplace in the feminist movement. The increasing norm of duel incomes has driven housing prices through the roof, almost to the point where if you only have one income, you can't hardly make it. We have a generation of children being raised by state funded education after school programs and daycare employees. I know what many of you may be thinking, "Uh hey Ry, isn't your wife going to be a lawyer? What are you going to do when you have kids?" And honestly, I have no idea what we are going to do when we have kids. Thats a really tough question. It didn't used to be such a tough question. God called my wife to pursue her law degree, no doubt about it. She will be used mightily by God because of it.

It's just our reality as a society. You are at a disadvantage if you only have one income and I think that's sad. It is what it is and I don't really see that changing any time in the near future so we as Christians who want to raise up the next generation as pure, strong leaders we find ourselves in a bit of a conundrum.

I posted a video exerpt of The Quiet Man starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. Ah those were the good ol' days. Enjoy :)

P.S. My wife has distanced herself from any association with my blog. A shrewd political move if you ask me. I don't know if they are just not going to vote at all or if they are going to write someone in. I'm no spiritual giant I find that very irresponsible. If George W. Bush didn't do anything else in office other than appoint those justices, it was a succsessful 8 years. How will these people feel after not voting, if Oprahbama or Billary win this election, a couple justices die or quit, and very liberal pro-choice judges are appointed. I myself would feel tremendous guilt and regret. Darren Kyle and I have discovered that we have an older half brother!!! I know, crazy. No Joke! His name is Derek Andrews and he lives in Wichita Falls Texas. When My dad was in the Air Force he married a woman named Betty Johnson. They had a child in 1962 and shortly after they divorced. My Dad relinquished his parental rights so when Betty remarried, her new husband could adopt Derek. Derek has gone through his entire life without knowing a single thing about who his biological father was. When I was about 16 my dad had told all of us kids that he had been married before and he had a child. That was the first we had ever heard of it. We had very little hope of ever finding Derek because we didn't know his name and he knew nothing of my fathers existence or last name. All we knew was his mothers maiden name, which was Johnson and they had once lived in Texas. Very recently Derek's grandparents had presented him with his real birth certificate and he discovered is given name was Derek Joseph Dofelmier and his father was Lawrence Joseph Dofelmier, My Dad!!!! He Googled Dofelmier and Darren and Amelia's blog showed up. He left this long post on there blog explaining who he was and that he wanted to get into contact with us. Needless to say it been a crazy, and exciting couple of days for the Dofelmier Family and for Derek Andrews, my older half bother. This is a picture of him and his wife Jennifer taken in 1994 and if you have ever known my dad or have seen a picture of him you would know that he is family. We are looking forward to building a relationship with Derek and letting him know what a great man his biological dad was.

MY CHRISTMAS LIST

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Really cute babies. I byproduct of this recent baby explosion is the baby dominated blog. Don't get me wrong, if I had a baby as cute as Eowyn Hardebeck that's all I'd ever do too. Have you seen her, she's adorable. I digress, Since Erin and I don't have any babies yet, all we have on our blog is pictures of us and other peoples very cute babies. Well no longer!!!! It is my pleasure to present to you some very ugly babies. I sincerely hope that none of these unfortunate children belong to anyone that reads this post.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5140945856919657442" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; do I vote for the guy I think can win, or do I vote for the guy I believe will make the best president of our county? Here's the thing, if we want change in this country we need to vote for the one who we feel will best lead our country. Nothing will ever change if we always vote for the "most electable" candidate. I don't mean to get all biblical but I highly doubt David was the most electable candidate for king now was he?

I still don't know who I'm going to vote for yet but I will base my decision in moral integrity, and leadership, not electability.

Welcome to my world

Well I decided to create my own blog to spread my wisdom amongst the masses.
